POSITION TITLE: Processing Manager – 2nd Shift

JOB SUMMARY: The Processing Manager – 2nd Shift is responsible for overall process of production at the plant. Manages several supervisors or leads, working under the overall direction of the Plant Manager. This manager will be responsible for efficient and timely production based on sales demands the role’s key challenge is to maintain production within specific guidelines for production efficiency, labor cost, materials usage, waste amounts, quality and safety.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES :

  • Planning, directing, and coordinating the manufacturing of products in accordance with company goals and objectives.
  • Establishing and controlling conditions of production to satisfy customer and quality specifications.
  • Organizing and directing workflow and work processes to satisfy production requirements in a cost-efficient manner.
  • Directing the production supervisors and leads in the execution of the plant’s operating plans.
  • Maintaining employee safety and morale by creating a safe, efficient and positive work environment.

  • Maintaining proper employment levels through selecting, interviewing, and training of personnel.
  • Ensure increasing levels of customer and employee satisfaction while improving the efficiency of manpower, materials and machines.
  • Formulates and recommends manufacturing policies and programs which guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and profitability of the operation.
  • Manage inventory levels and ensure material is available for production.
  • Manage finished goods inventory levels to ensure releases can be satisfied.
  • Maintain an accurate backlog (correct shipment weeks) of orders and liaises sales to ensure there is an adequate understanding of future demand.
  • Identifying and evaluating ideas to improve the plant’s operations; participating actively in process improvement, cost reduction, and other initiatives to continuously improve the plant’s operations and overall performance.
  • Developing and motivating cost-effective alternatives and improvements to the production process.
  • Maximizing the efficiency of production lines and ensuring the effective utilization of all production staff and related resources.
  • Work in accordance with all company policies and procedures regarding employment, safety, quality, product safety and legality, security, and regulatory compliance as applicable.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • BA/BS degree in a manufacturing or management related field preferred.
  • Must have five (5) years of experience in the food manufacturing industry with three (3) years previous supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Experience in pet food/pet treat food production preferred.
  • Good organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required.
